HOW TO PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL FOLDERS?

You have two ways to protect your folders with a password in windows xp. You can even protect by some free download programs.

  • Right click on the folder which you need to protect by giving a password.
  • Then select "Properties".Now click on the "Sharing" tab on the properties window.
  • Then make a tick at "Make this folder private" check box.
  • Then click "Apply" button.
  • If you don't have password for your account, you will get a message box asking you whether you wish to give password.If you need to make your folder private you must give password for that. Once you have given this password you need to give this password again when you log into your system.
  • Now confirm your password
  • .Click on the "Create Password" button and close this password window.
  • Click "ok" on properties dialog box.
Another method:

  • Right click on your folder which you need to protect.
  • Now click "Send to" then select "Compressed Folder".
  • Now you will get the compressed folder of your folder.
  • Double click on that file.
  • Now you can see "File" at the right top of the window.
  • Select "Add a Password".
  • Type your password and confirm it again.
  • After this, you can only open your folder by giving a password.
